I will overwhelm 'serious fighter' Jake Paul - Joshua

Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul face-off

The British boxer prepares to battle Jake Paul in an eight round fight which will be streamed in real-time on the streaming platform.

British boxer Anthony Joshua stated he will "overwhelm entirely" the American and "break" his opponent as the two fighters confronted each other to promote next month's heavyweight fight.

Former two time world title holder Anthony Joshua faces social media star turned fighter Paul - in what is, on paper, a huge disparity - at Miami's Kaseya Center on December 19th.

Fighter's Mentality

"I will damage his features and break his body up. I aim to demonstrate I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35 years old, declared.

"I plan to overwhelm him. That's how fighters think.

"I intend to really want to injure him. That's my goal."

Civil Interaction

Despite such comments, a composed Anthony Joshua and internet personality Paul - typically famous for his dramatics - shared friendly words and kept it respectful with each other.

Jake Paul instead targeted ex Joshua rival Francis Ngannou and described him as "not serious" after the Cameroonian rejected a bout proposal.

Targeting Fury

Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, criticized UK rival Tyson Fury - and rejected a million-pound wager 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul win.

"Jake Paul is superior to Fury - he's present here," Joshua commented.

"I acknowledge that."

Legitimate Fighter

Despite declaring he will hurt Jake Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to speak negatively about his opponent's fighting skills.

"Jake Paul is a credible opponent," he remarked.

Paul's History

Paul - who initially became famous on the television network - has primarily boxed MMA fighters or past-their-prime fighters since becoming pro.

He was defeated by Briton Fury in 2023.

Commercial Attraction

However, the inexperienced fighter is still one of the sport's greatest financial successes, consistently making massive financial rewards.

Forecast and Confidence

The 28-year-old forecast a knockout win in the fourth or fifth round and claimed he would stop the highly-expected Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently under discussion for 2026.

"It will be me versus Tyson Fury in the coming year," Paul stated.

Physical Difference

As Joshua and Paul engaged in the traditional stare-down, with their physical disparity evident, it highlighted just how improbable this entire matchup is - and how astonishing it is that the match is really happening.
