'People are afraid' - the reasons 'juggernaut' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

It's evident why Arsenal are now numerous fans' favorites to claim the Premier League in the current campaign.

Consider their performances against West Ham and Crystal Palace in contrast with those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race previously.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to ultimately achieve their title ambition.

They rank top for shutouts (6), goals conceded (3), shots faced (72), quality opportunities against (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is possibly the strongest in the league, with Arsenal keeping a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Expertise

Their danger from dead balls is widely recognized, but rival sides still don't know how to neutralize the Gunners from these chances.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just fearful of them and it is excellent to see."

Championship Credentials

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's commencement to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City at home - and are still ahead by four points at the top.

While they keep winning, their long-standing opponents aren't faring so well. This marks the first time at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having spent around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in quest of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far paid off in style, with his side second top scorers in the league and having the tightest defense, despite numerous injuries.

  • Shutouts in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without letting in a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and experts have labeled Arteta's men as a "juggernaut, looking challenging to stop" with the whole club now performing with belief and resolve.
